Wheatgrass Has Many Benefits!

Incorporating wheatgrass into your health and wellness may prove to be one of the most effective practices known to humans.  Health pioneer and “mother of wheatgrass”, Ann Wigmore, experienced this first handedly.  Having witnessed her grandmother’s applications of plants, grasses and herbs, when Ann was diagnosed with colon cancer at age 50, she began using wheatgrass as a part of her healing regime along with what is now called the Living Foods Lifestyle ®.  Within a year of committing to the lifestyle, Ann was cancer free.  Having succeeded in her taking back her health, she continued to focus and learn about the healing properties of wheatgrass.  Observation, investigation and promotion of its uses at her reputable co-establisments (the Hippocrates Institute & the Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute) still exists today.  At each of these healing facilities, the uses of wheatgrass are taught and implemented along with the Living Foods Lifestyle ® as well as for colon cleansing.

Cultured Foods Support Digestion and Immune System

Naturally cultured or lacto-fermented foods contain enzymes and bacteria that help digest food and eliminate wastes. They also build up friendly bacteria in the intestines that aids digestion, supports your immune system, and increases the propagation of vitamin B12. They are especially helpful when your digestive system may be sluggish. Cultured foods can help prevent constipation and other digestive problems, and are useful in preventing and treating yeast infections. After taking antibiotics, lacto-fermented foods help to replace the beneficial bacteria that was destroyed by the pharmaceutical.

Magnesium and Type 2 Diabetes

Magnesium intake is one of the most important factors for diabetes prevention and management and is an essential mineral required by the body for maintaining normal muscle and nerve function, keeping a healthy immune system, and building strong bones. Deficiencies can lead to muscle spasms, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety, migraines, and osteoporosis.

Here’s a list of magnesium rich foods: Bran (rice, wheat, and oat), seeds (squash, pumpkin, and watermelon), cacao (dark chocolate), sesame seeds, flax seeds, brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, pine nuts, and molasses.

Antioxidants: give your body a boost

Natural antioxidants are molecules that prevent damage against free radicals in the body. Free radicals cause damage to our immune cells when produced in excessive quantities during the inflammatory process (part of the immune response). It is necessary for our bodies to eliminate them to avoid this damage and help our bodies in the fight against infections caused by bacteria, viruses, and parasites. We can help our body in the fight against excessive damage from free radicals by eating certain antioxidant rich foods. Examples of these foods are; blueberries, cranberries, blackberries, strawberries, beans, artichoke hearts, and spinach. There are many others. Including a mixture of these fruits and vegetables in your diet, along with others, can help improve overall health and defense against free radicals in the body.

Almond Milk: A Raw Food & Living Foods Dairy Alternative

For those of you that avoid dairy products, almond milk is a great is a great alternative to traditional cow’s milk. It has no lactose or cholesterol and can be considered a raw, living food if the nuts are soaked and sprouted prior to making the milk.

Almonds are rich in magnesium, potassium and copper. They are also very high in vitamin E, selenium and calcium, which are anti-oxidants and may reduce the risk of various types of cancer. Almond milk made straight from ground almonds and water is very high in all of these nutrients.

Check out the following link for a great raw almond milk recipe. And, if you choose to purchase almond milk, check out the ingredients because most of them contain very little almond!
